The management of the University of Ibadan (UI) on Monday ordered students of the institution to vacate the campus latest by 6pm following the outbreak of protests in the school.
UI’s Director of Communications and Publication, Olatunji Oladejo told newsmen that the closure became necessary so as to avert a crisis.
Students of the premier university had earlier staged a protest on the streets of Ibadan lamenting what they tagged the insensitive disposition of the university management to their security and welfare.
A student congress held on Saturday had passed a resolution that steps be taken to disrupt the forthcoming examinations if students were not provided with identity cards and allowed to use cooking appliances within the halls of residence.
Oladejo in a statement issued Monday afternoon however denied the allegation and stated that the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Idowu Olayinka had convened an emergency meeting of the university Senate to review the circumstances surrounding the development.
“The University of Ibadan in its wisdom has decided to shift the examination earlier scheduled for June to July, 2017, ” Oladejo said.
It is not the first time that management of the University of Ibadan has closed down the school following student protests.
Vanguard reports that undergraduate students are to resume on July 17 while postgraduate students would be allowed to stay on campus for their research activities.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is planning to conduct supplementary examination for candidates who had hitches in their registration and examination processes.
This was confirmed by JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede, on Wednesday while addressing newsmen.
“Anybody whose biometric could not be verified will be allowed to do the supplementary examination.
“As at today, 640 candidates out of 1.7million candidates did not do biometric verification, reasons being that some fraudsters registered candidates across online.
“In this case, the students are not guilty of the offence and hence will be made to write the exam again under my own very eyes,” he said.

Real Madrid will be aiming to become the first team in Champions League history to win back-to-back titles when they take on Juventus in the final on Saturday.
Since the reincarnation of Europe’s top competition in 1993, no team has ever managed to win the trophy in consecutive years, with AC Milan the last team to do so in 1989 and 1990 when the it was the European Cup.
Zinedine Zidane’s men won their 11th European trophy – their fifth Champions League – when they beat Atletico Madrid last season and victory against Juventus in Cardiff will see them make history by defending their title.
Speaking before the game, Zidane was confident that his side were prepared for the final, saying:
“We’re very happy to be in the final. We know how difficult it is to get there and we’ve worked very well during the year. We deserve to be in the final and the team is going in to it in very good physical shape and we’re confident.”
Juventus last won the competition in 2006 under Marcello Lippi and have been beaten on their past four appearances in the final including a 2015 loss to Barcelona.
The Serie A champions could also become the ninth team to achieve the treble of league, domestic cup and European titles and only the second Italian club in history to do so after Inter Milan in the 2009/10 season.
When asked about Juventus’ history in Champions League finals, manager Massimiliano Allegri said:
“Juventus haven’t lost six finals, we’ve been involved in eight! Making the final is incredible.
“There’s only one Champions League like there’s only one Superbowl and what matters is being in the right place at the right time. I’m delighted to be in the final and I feel fortunate to be leading a team out in Cardiff on Saturday.”

The big news for Real Madrid is the potential return of Gareth Bale, who has been sidelined since picking up another calf injury against Barcelona on April 23.

Just today I went to pay NEPA bill so I was asked if I had paid the last debt and I said yes with boldness which was a terrible lie so she recorded it and the debt was up to 3k plus which was in my pocket but that lie saved me some cash

A fan of Davido, @ChrisBaller went on Instagram and notified Davido that Wizkid wasn’t following him anymore on Instagram.
The Fan wrote:-
“Wizkid unfollow you, unfollow him too, f**k him, no more buying of wizkid song for me!!! #unfollowwizkid” and Davido replied the fan with; “@chrisballerr life ain’t that serious bro! It’s all love Lol”
This didn’t stop him from unfollowing back also though.
A quick check on Wizkid’s page revealed that he was actually not following Davido, and further check on Davido’s page showed that he has unfollowed the “Daddy Yo” crooner.

After seeing her result, she decided to pen down an Open letter for JAMB Help Office because she believes her script was not correctly marked. She was confidant of how well she did and claims she ought to score more than 85.

Dear Jamb, My name is Zinasha Zibruel. I am coming from Nigeria. I writed JAMB, and I scare 85. That is a big fat lie.
I say is a big serious lie because I doing lesson for 1 months and I counted my book very well from carton to carton. I supposing to getting 100 in Inglich and 95 in Litrachure. But you given me 10 in English and 15 in Litrachure.
