A 24-year-old woman has been arrested after she gave birth to a baby boy and threw him into a pit toilet in Ga-Rafiri village, Lebowakgomo, South Africa.
Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says SAPS have noted with great concern, the increase in cases of new born babies being thrown into pit toilets by their mothers, despite campaigns conducted in an effort to raise awareness on structures within the Saps and its sister departments.
“Police were notified, reacted swiftly and rescued the infant who is currently recuperating in hospital,” Ngoepe said.

Department of Health’s spokesperson, Thabiso Teffo says emergency services stabilized the baby and he was taken to the Zebediela Hospital.
Sadly, new reports say that the infant died in hospital while receiving medical attention.
The suspect is due to appear before the Magatle Periodical Court soon on a charge of attempted murder.
“The suspect in this matter has appeared before the Matlala Periodical Court for murder, she was released on warning and the case was postponed to 18 December 2017 for further police investigations to take place,” Ngoepe explained.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lt.General Nneke Ledwaba, has condemned these acts, especially in the duration of 16 days of activism on violence against women and children.
Furthermore, Ledwaba has sent a stern warning to those taking part in these ‘heinous acts’, that they will be dealt with harshly without compromise.
“Mothers are supposed to be the nurturers and protectors of children. It is now becoming a regular tendency and members of the community are advised to consult the helping professionals for family problems, with some departments, such as the Department of Social Development offering these services for free,” concluded Ledwaba.

Malo – Tiwa Savage x Wizkid: Almosteverything about Malo is royalty. Queen Tiwa and the golden boy, Wizkid made a deluxe visual to their master piece. The Meji Alabi directed video is a beauty to watch.
Ponmile – Reminisce: Reminisce pulled a brilliant surprise with Ponmile, having made it an alternative record instead of his usual indigenous rap music. The visual of the song was even more brilliant with the way it captured the theme of the song. Thanks to input of Odunlade, Lota Chukwu and of course, Clarence.
El Chapo – D’Banj ft. Gucci Mane x Wande Coal: From the picture quality to the luxurious show; the visual perfectly captures the gangster lifestyle that the song describes. D’Banj, Gucci Mane and Wande Coal fit into the boss-like character well. No doubt, the video is of international standard.
Fall – Davido: It is difficult to keep thing simple when you have a bag full of coins. Kudos to Davido, he kept the video simple in terms of flashlights and gadgetry; instead all the beauty of the visual was concentrated on the theatrics. Davido might even get a movie role for it.
Here To Stay – Debie Rise: Big Brother Naija singing darling, Debie Rise couldn’t have had a better video for her inspirational song, Here To Say. There is just so much in the video that one can find inspiring. Great piece!
No Forget – AdekunleGold x Simi: Simi and Adekunle Gold certainly brought the chemistry used in recording the song to the visual. The storyline of the Clarence Peters montage was centered on two lovers who would have to survive all types of challenges thrown at their relationship. No Forget has a beautiful concept and great acting.
Uncle Suru – Jon Ogah ft. AdekunleGold x Simi: Jon Ogah’s Uncle Suru is one song that didn’t take long to gain acceptance. Thanks to a flawless visual, the artiste was able to get his message of hope and perseverance across to many listeners and viewers.
Romeo & Juliet – Johnny Drille: The video is a continuity of a tragic love story that desperately needs a happy ending from Drille’s Wait For Mevisual. Set in the early 90s, in this video, the singer continues to cope with life without his true love that died from a brief illness. Retired from the army, he finds himself unavoidably attached to a female Mechanic.
Yolo Yolo – Seyi Shay: A beach setting, playful mood and a sprinkle of effect, was all Meji Alabi needed to make this beautiful video. As usual, Seyi Shay didn’t need to try so hard to set the Yolo Yolo groove. The Caribbean feel of the song was perfectly portrayed when shooting this visual especially with the costume.

Folashade – Praiz: The dark synergy of Praiz and Toni Tones on this video made it an outstanding piece. The strong emotion of the song was evident in the video. This video shows another way to tell a tragic story without giving it all out for the eyes to see. Folashade is no doubt an award-winning video.

Tragedy struck in Chibok community, Borno state today, Sunday, November 12

A Nigerian army staff sergeant killed his superior officer while they were tussling for his gun – The situation has put back Chibok community in the news again for the wrong reasons A report by Sahara Reporters indicates that a Nigerian army staff sergeant, Silas Ninyo (93NA/36/2608) has shot dead his superior, Captain T. Mani today, Sunday, November 12.

According to the report, Captain Mani stopped Sergeant Ninyo from beating innocent civilians in Chibok, Borno state after responding to distress calls from locals. On getting to the scene, Mani reportedly attempted to disarm the sergeant, but was killed in the process, while the solider killed himself and injured four others around.

“A team of soldiers, led by one Captain T. Mani (N/14430), was providing security for worshippers during Sunday service in Chibok and received a distress call that Staff Sergeant Ninyo was beating civilians for unknown reasons. “Captain Mani, accompanied by soldiers, moved to the scene and freed the civilians.

But while trying to disarm the errant soldier, Captain Mani was shot dead by Staff Sergeant Ninyo, who later shot himself dead after killing four others,” a situation report by the Nigerian army said. The report stated that the corpses of both soldiers have been deposited at a military hospital in Yola, Adamawa state, adding that troops are on red alert to avert any untoward reaction following the incident.

The incident comes two days after a Brigadier-General, Lym Hassan was being lined up for prosecution by a military court-martial for false rumours. According to the report, the top military officer claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari had died when the latter was hospitalized in London.

Phyno, who is generally considered as an indigenous rapper, has weighed in on the ongoing talks about Nigerian rappers commercializing their music for profit. Phyno has come out to drop the “rapper” title, to adopt the title of “musician” which allows him diversify his music, without criticism from the hip-hop fans. He said in a recent interview with Hip TV that;
“Don’t call me a rapper. I’m a musician, I know music.”
Phyno and his partner in music, Olamide have had fingers pointed at them as the front in rank of prodigal rappers. However, with the adoption of the”musician” title, Phyno would be hoping to go about his “commercial” music without hassle.

Manchester City 3:1 Arsenal
Manchester City powered on at the top of the Premier League with a convincing 3-1 win over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

Kevin De Bruyne scored City's 50th goal of the season during a dominant first-half display before Sergio Aguero added a penalty.
Substitute Alexandre Lacazette pulled one back for the visitors but Gabriel Jesus wrapped up City's club record-extending 15th successive win after 74 minutes.
Arsenal may have had grievances over two of City's goals but the hosts were full value for their victory, which was also their ninth in succession in the Premier League.
The Gunners were actually confident and composed but their deployment of Francis Coquelin in the centre of a back five - a rare start for the Frenchman - indicated an uneasiness with City's attack.
Their concerns were justified, with City rapid and dangerous on the counter-attack. Aguero, who entered the field to a guard of a honour in recognition of becoming the club's record goalscorer in midweek, went close after two minutes.
The chance came after Raheem Sterling broke from deep and De Bruyne found Aguero but the Argentinian blasted narrowly wide.
Aguero also played in Leroy Sane but Sterling was unable to turn in his cross.
The opener came with 19 minutes gone after Petr Cech pushed away a snap-shot from De Bruyne. Sane retrieved the loose ball and De Bruyne played a one-two with Fernandinho before driving in a low shot from distance.
David Silva was the next to get behind the Arsenal defence but his pull-back evaded everybody before Sterling was wasteful from another good opening. Cech also had to react quickly when Laurent Koscielny turned a Kyle Walker cross towards his own goal.
Arsenal, who had been limited to long-range half-chances, finally threatened in the closing minute of the first half but Ederson beat away an effort from Aaron Ramsey.
City finally earned greater reward for their superiority early in the second half, although Arsenal complained after Sterling was adjudged to have been bundled over by Nacho Monreal. Aguero clipped in the spot-kick off the post.
The contest was not over, however. Arsenal started to show some teeth and had the ball in the net after Ederson spilled the ball and was pushed over the line by Ramsey. A foul was given but it was a warning the Londoners did not intend to roll over.
Ramsey forced Ederson to save again and Arsenal sent on record signing Lacazette. It proved an inspired move as the Frenchman reduced the deficit by lashing home a low shot following good work by Alex Iwobi and Ramsey.
City upped their tempo in response. Jesus, sent on for Aguero, was denied by Cech at point-blank range and the Arsenal goalkeeper also saved from De Bruyne.
The pressure paid off as De Bruyne slipped in Silva and his pull-back was turned home by Jesus.

Chelsea 1:0 Manchester United
Alvaro Morata gave Manchester United a taste of what could have been by heading Antonio Conte's Chelsea to a much-needed victory as Jose Mourinho endured another frustrating Stamford Bridge return.

All eyes were on the touchline as the combustible managers faced off, with Manchester City's latest win leaving United eight points off the Premier League summit as pressure mounted on Conte just months after leading the Blues to the title.
The Italian twice got the better of Mourinho at Stamford Bridge last season and made it a hat-trick in a tense encounter on Sunday, with Morata's fine header giving Chelsea a deserved 1-0 win against second-placed United.
It looked like the Spain international would instead be wearing red until Mourinho completed a summer move for Romelu Lukaku, whose goalless streak stretched to a seventh match as the Chelsea striker brought his scoreless run to a timely halt.
Having seen an early Phil Jones own goal ruled out because of his foul, Morata capitalised on lacklustre United defending to superbly head home Cesar Azpilicueta's cross in the 55th minute.
It was no less than Chelsea deserved as they pressed the issue against an increasingly ramshackle United, although Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini went close to snatching a fortuitous point as the clock wound down.
Chelsea rode their luck at the end of a match that looked to have got off to a dream start as Marcos Alonso's threatening cross was smashed into his own goal by Jones - only for Morata's foul to see it ruled out.
N'Golo Kante and Tiemoue Bakayoko had attempts of varying quality as the home side pushed for the lead, but it was far from one-way traffic thanks to a surprisingly open early approach from Mourinho's men.
Unmarked Rashford should have done better with a close-range header and a little more precision would have meant former Chelsea striker Lukaku beat Thibaut Courtois.
Instead the Chelsea goalkeeper was able to tip wide before opposite number David De Gea watched Cesc Fabregas direct into the side-netting after initially stopping Eden Hazard.
Like last season, Mourinho made sure the Belgium attacking midfielder had little room for manoeuvre - and a challenge on him from Antonio Valencia led to fury from Conte, who was spoken to by referee Anthony Taylor.
Jones and Herrera were booked in quick succession for fouls on Hazard as the theme continued after the restart as Chelsea began the second period as they ended the first.
Morata had seen penalty claims ignored and Andreas Christensen missed the target as the opening period came to a close, while Hazard wasted a chance to stick it his former manager in the 53rd minute.
In the end it was the man who looked set to join United over the summer that broke the deadlock.
Morata somehow managed to find plenty of space and met Azpilicueta's floated cross with a superb header that sent the Stamford Bridge faithful wild.
Rashford and Herrera attempted to draw parity before substitute Marouane Fellaini, looking rusty on his return from injury, sloppily gave away possession as Bakayoko went close.
De Gea saved from Hazard as the sides traded punches in the closing stages as United threw caution to the wind in search of a leveller.
Rashford hit a half volley just wide of Courtois' goal as the visitors pushed and the Chelsea goalkeeper had to be at his best to deny international team-mate Fellaini.
The Belgium midfielder saw penalty claims against Gary Cahill ignored as the ball came back into the box, with Rashford seeing a stoppage-time free-kick deflect just over.

Roy Hodgson is adamant Crystal Palace do not need convincing they can succeed against Tottenham, despite having just witnessed them outclassing European champions Real Madrid.
While bottom of the Premier League table with the division's worst defensive record - something which owed much to a lack of confidence - they have improved since Hodgson's appointment and he insists they are not overwhelmed by the challenge Spurs present.
In Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Hugo Lloris and Christian Eriksen, they possess some of Europe's finest players whose self-belief contributed to Wednesday's defeat of Real, which Hodgson was at Wembley to witness.
Real also last season became the first ever team to retain the Champions League title, and Palace are without injured record signing Christian Benteke, but Hodgson said: "I don't need to convince them.
"There is no doubt Tottenham were great. They might be at different ends of the table, but (my squad) are still proud of their abilities.
"It just happens to be a game where we are going to be put to a bigger test than maybe we were before because Spurs have some exceptional players.
"They won't go into the game thinking they are chanceless; there's no way that is going to happen. If it turns out that they are too good for us like Manchester City and Manchester United we will hold our hands up.
"But we won't go onto that field thinking they are too good for us to play against. We will go thinking we are going to beat these, and let's see what happens.
"If players allow themselves to listen to all the noise on social media and from TV pundits they will be affected. But the bottom line is that when we cross that line on Sunday there is nothing to stop our players doing all the things they're capable of."
royHodgsonThumbsUp_large
Today's fixture represents Hodgson's first in a competitive capacity at the national stadium since his resignation from the England job, and he has already spoken of the threat posed by Alli and Kane.
The former scored twice in the defeat of Real, and not only does the 70-year-old already believe him to be one of Europe's leading midfielders, but that there remains more to come.
"I was talking to Alex Ferguson and he said this guy can be one of the best midfielders in Europe," said Hodgson, who again has Mamadou Sakho and James McArthur in contention but considers Patrick van Aanholt a doubt.
"I don't like to put pressure on the young man but there's no doubt he's at the top. If you talk about the top midfielders in Europe he would be in the reckoning, and he's still only 21, hasn't got 200 games behind him, hasn't got 50 caps. The more he goes on is when we'll see him get really better.

Former England manager Sam Allardyce was keeping his cards close to his chest when asked about returning to club management with Everton.
The 63-year-old has been linked to the vacant Goodison Park hot seat - following Ronald Koeman's sacking last month - along with Burnley boss Sean Dyche, whose side recorded a 1-0 victory at Southampton yesterday.
Under-23s coach David Unsworth has been placed in charge temporarily, but has lost his first three matches.
Since he took over Everton have exited the Carabao Cup at Chelsea, crashed out of the Europa League with two group games left after a 3-0 defeat at Lyon and lost against Leicester in the Premier League to leave the club stuck in the bottom three.
Ahead of today's clash with Watford, Unsworth conceded the game was "huge" for him.
Allardyce, who has been out of work since leaving England after just one match in charge, has built a reputation on saving troubled teams and earlier this week admitted he would consider an approach from the Toffees to become their new boss.
SamAllardyceCrystalPalaceJan2017_large
Speaking on Match of the Day, host Gary Lineker asked Allardyce: "He's (Sean Dyche) been linked with Everton. Is it time an English manager was perhaps given the chance at one of the bigger clubs?"
Allardyce replied: "It's always time an English manager was given the chance, as far as I'm concerned Gary, or a British manager - there's no doubt about that. And there's not enough of us given the chance."
When asked if he would consider going back into management and whether Everton would tempt him, Allardyce added: "I'm not doing anything at the moment, I'm enjoying myself here.

Everton 3: 2 Watford
Everton came from two goals down to secure a dramatic 3-2 home victory over Watford and move out of the Premier League relegation zone, with ex-Toffees midfielder Tom Cleverley missing a last-gasp chance to level for the visitors from the penalty spot.

ChristianKabaseleWatfordVEvertonNov2017PA_large
Watford's Christian Kabasele (right) scores his side's second goal of the game. Picture: PA
Everton looked set for a sixth successive defeat in all competitions, and fourth under caretaker manager David Unsworth, when Christian Kabasele's 64th-minute header put the visitors 2-0 up, adding to Richarlison's strike in the first minute of the second half.
But Oumar Niasse pulled a goal back three minutes later, substitute Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed home an equaliser with 16 minutes to go and Leighton Baines subsequently converted a penalty in stoppage time to complete the turnaround. Cleverley then had the opportunity to make it 3-3 at the death but sent his spot-kick off-target.
What was Everton's first win in nine matches saw them rise from 19th to 15th in the table and brought a much-needed dose of positivity ahead of the international break, in which the club's hierarchy are expected to make a decision on the permanent successor to the sacked Ronald Koeman.
What becomes of Unsworth, who would like the job full-time, remains to be seen but what is certain is that he will have taken great satisfaction from this, the first home match he has overseen since taking temporary charge, which was watched from the stands by major shareholder Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright.
The first chance of a game that started poorly but ended up as a thriller fell to Everton in the 22nd minute.
The ball went from Tom Davies and via Niasse and Wayne Rooney to Baines, and the full-back's shot was well saved by Heurelho Gomes.
Davies then sent a hugely ambitious strike from distance off-target, before Andre Gray failed to make use of Kiko Femenia's low delivery to him in front of Everton's goal, completely miscuing his attempted shot.
There was little more in the way of attacking action until just before the interval, when Richarlison sped forward having been fed by Gray and got around Jordan Pickford only to shoot wide, and Abdoulaye Doucoure hit an effort straight at the goalkeeper moments later.
Richarlison then made amends for his miss less than a minute after the interval. Watford sprung a counter-attack and Gray sent a pass to Richarlison, who went around Pickford again and this time finished in very tidy fashion.
As Everton pushed for a swift equaliser, Gylfi Sigurdsson's shot was parried by Gomes and the goalkeeper then tipped away Rooney's cross under pressure from Niasse. Gomes was hurt in the incident and after receiving treatment on-field, came off with a bandage around his head, with Orestis Karnezis coming on to replace him.
Everton fans were then left stunned as Watford doubled their lead when Kabasele connected with Jose Holebas' corner.
But they soon had something to cheer as Niasse latched on to Ademola Lookman's lofted pass, got the ball past the outrushing Karnezis and bundled it over the line.
Lookman's fellow substitute Calvert-Lewin then brought things all-square, nodding in at the far post from Baines' corner.
And Unsworth's third substitute, Aaron Lennon, was subsequently involved in the build-up to what proved the winner, with the winger being brought down by Holebas in the box and referee Graham Scott pointing to the spot.
Baines converted the resulting penalty confidently and a wild roar erupted around Goodison Park.

What we know about Bobrisky
About two hours ago, news broke on social media that Nigerian male barbie Bobrisky has been allegedly arrested in Lagos. The report said Bobrisky's arrest may be connected to the lingering fight between him and serial entrepreneur Toyin Lawani.

Now here's what mynaijnews knows so far. We put a call through to Toyin Lawani, her personal assistant who spoke to us said 'please she has nothing to do with that. You peoople should stop linking her to it'.

Another close associate to Toyin Lawani confirms her claim saying, 'Toyin won't stoop so low'.

We have also reached out to the Lagos State Police PRO, Famous Cole who said, 'I'm not aware of such arrest at the moment. Maybe he was invited for questioning or he went voluntarily to make a complaint'.

From the photos circulating, Bobrisky is without any footwear and he looks visibly distraught which clearly means he didn't go there voluntarily. He's also not reachable at the moment as his mobile phone is switched off.

A source however tells mynaijnews that Bobrisky's arrest may be connected to his social media post yesterday where he came out as 'GAY', a criminal offence with a 14-year jail term in Lagos State.

We'll keep digging and bring updates as soon as we have it.

Good day to you comrades, Respected elders, Stakeholders and Elders statemen.

It is with a heart dedicated and committed to a better *STUDENTS' MOVEMENT* that I comes up with a dream of making it a better place to be; hence, I present to you *COLLECTIVISM 2017: MORONKOLA TESLIM ABIOLA AS THE NEXT NANS JCC CHAIRMAN OYO AXIS*.

*COLLECTIVISM 2017: OUR VISION*
To create a Students centred Administration with an alluring inspiring atmosphere where we can all co-exist peacefully with a sole goal of repositioning our ASSOCIATION.

*COLLECTIVISM 2017: OUR MISSIONS*
- To provide Altruistic leadership
- Repositioning our Association for greater heights
- To encourage Intellectual Unionism
- To prescribe Radiant Radicalism when needed
- To set up Constructive Administration
- Respect for the Rule of Law
- Transparency et Accountability.

*COLLECTIVISM 2017 : OUR PROMISES*.
Our intending programs, Our promises which are realistic and altruistic are summarized under three (3) broad headings to form an acronym: *I.C.E.*!!! Viz:

• *I: Innovations*

• *C: Continuity*

• *E: Eradications*

What is *I.C.E.*?

*Martin Luther King* opined that the fight for equity and meritocracy in governance is for all, not just one. We must together ensure that the leadership of students movements is in safe hand as the common good of the students and their peaceful co-existence is very germane.  As part of our *Collectivism Agenda*, we have promises which are *Realistic* and *Feasible*. Our agenda caters for Senators, Stakeholders, Elders and Cadres. The acronym *I.C.E.*:-

*INNOVATIONS*
Breaking new grounds and inventing opportunities through hands-on creativity and services to the students of which this is *"PRO BRONO PUBLICO"* of the students' leaders to the entire students is our first promise.

We will find Innovative ways of making the Association Self-Sufficient; Getting a Legal Adviser for the Association, Intellectual Struggle (using Legal means), Approach Organizations, Companies and Well-To-Do Individuals for Sponsorships, Bursaries and Scholarships.

_*CONTINUITY*_

With your supports and prayers, *Administrator General Toheeb Niniola* has achieved so much, but the job is not done. There are still individuals who want to reverse the wave of development and liberation, they want to stand in the way of what's right, what's just and what benefits you.

Now is not the time to reverse the change, a vote for us is a vote for progress, we will continue to listen to you and seek more platforms to gather your views. We will make sure we make ourselves ever more accessible than we currently are, so that you may know who to come to when you deem fit.

We're ready to continue with the piloting and salvage the association through prompt intervention to issues regarding the students and masses, empowerment of students and students' leaders through seminars and workshops, empowerment of stakeholders and cadres through sponsorships and facilitation of loans and grants for interested members of the association.

_*ERADICATIONS*_

When evil men would seek to perpetrate an *unjust status quo*; good men must seek to bring into being a *real order of justice* - *Martin Luther King Jnr*.

As part of our *collectivism agenda*, we have plans to eradicate the following:

- Unilateral Decision Making and Bad Working Relationship amidst Executives.

- Social vices in Students' Movement. All these  vices are bad traits that are against the morality of the society and Mankind.

- Obnoxious Policies of the Government and Managements.

- Hooliganism and Thuggery.

- Bad Eggs who are bent upon Defaming our dear Association and Destabilizing Students Movement.
- Partisan Politics as we are aware that General Election is forth coming

We need to get *united* against all these odds as we are fully aware that no man has monopoly of anything be it knowledge, wisdom, violence, finance etc.

Observing the associations( *NANS* ) psyche is like watching a clock; once it gets to 12, it starts to repeat itself all over again. I am aware that you might have heard the best of manifestoes in the past but I want to assure you that we the _*Team MoronkolaTeslimAbiola4NANSChairman*_ have analyzed and developed strategy to solve myriads of issues affecting our dear association, issues hindering the students movement in the state and we have fashioned out  ways to improve the welfarism of our students (as students welfarism is Paramount to us).

- Most important is to get a vibrant Lawyer for the association in order to guide us through our pursuit of victory in struggle as we will not hesitate to forge ahead in fighting our struggles.

- We will continue to lead the students in vigorous pursuit of a more professional conduct (Legal Means).

- We will strive to foster productivity by depending on more critical and independent thinking of the executives and the ideologies of committees and sub-committees that might be constituted.

- We will strive to establish a strong bond and find affiliation with the superior arms of the association and other associations.

- We will fashion out ways to accommodate and facilitate different programmes, seminars and workshops

- We will partner with government, NGOs and other bodies to organize forums that will enlighten the students, rehabilitate the needed ones.

We are here to consolidate on the projected plans of this outgoing government that are already in motion and to develop new ideologies that will be in beneficial to our common growth. With you and us; Better NANS is achievable, a very good association which the generations yet unborn will be proud of what we the current leaders bequeath to them.

We are indeed here to tell you that *Better NANS is achievable*

 Dear Comrades,

It is with no news that our noble association is about to undergo a transition process, a process that will see us transit from a state of greatness to a state of higher-greatness. Oyo state unarguably has positioned herself to have the most peaceful, ideological and intellectual comrades. This we have proven and re-proven over and over again.

There is no doubt that our past leaders have set pace, they have broken records, and they have agitated, led and won student struggles. The greater joy is that as the young leaders of the new generation, we are in a better position to set even more.

Being part of several student movements, most importantly the current administration has exposed, groomed and prepared me with significant experiences necessary to administrate the affairs of our association to the next level.

Comrades, I have come to realize that, re-positioning our association for greater heights will require that we move from our subtle state of individualism to much better state of collectivism. In collectivism lies our strength, in individualism lies our woes.

It is high time we questioned the cold wars of our great leaders which developed the current cracks being penetrated by the oppressors.

It is high time we revitalized the chemistry between our different ideologies and embrace the ultimate ideology.

It is high time we understood that no matter the ideology we have based our actions and orientations, without the Supreme Ideology of Collectivism, our disunity will continue to make us less powerful.

Therefore it is in the utmost spirit of solidarity, that I humbly request you support me in the actualization of the COLLECTIVE AGENDA.

My definition of a collective agenda is simple; it is a strategic agenda for a mass-based association in which we can leverage the past and current efforts of our leaders to collectively champion our struggles but not without a united war-front.

It is an agenda of the students by the students and for the students.

An agenda which is all encompassing

An agenda that does not discriminate.

An agenda devoid of violence but saturated with intellectualism.

An agenda that seeks first the welfare of student as the pinnacle priority.

An agenda that gives power to the students and their leaders.

An agenda that will improve on the current state of instilling sanity and prevent non-students from “COMING to RAID” our rights.

An agenda that seeks to empower our students, kick against victimizations, oppression and legitimately demand our rights.

An agenda to humbly direct the affairs of this administration with a united set of executives and senators.

An agenda to sustain and project beyond the current achievements of our struggles.

An agenda that gives the utmost stake to you THE STUDENT!
Therefore, I humbly request you support the COLLECTIVE AGENDA!

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has advised the Federal Government to set up a special fund for the development of private universities in Nigeria.

Oba Adeyemi gave the advice on Saturday at the 5th convocation of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD).

“This university is an exemplar in learning and character. It is moulding Nigeria’s future leaders in the best fashion.

“And I believe it won’t be out of place for the federal government to give special intervention funds for private universities,” the Alaafin said.

TheNewsGuru reports that 21-year-old Ahwin Kevin Akporode of Department of Mechanical Engineering emerged the overall best of the 869 graduating students with cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.00.

The university also conferred honorary Doctor of Letters on former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof Peter Okebukola and an American Philanthropist and President of Project CURE Foundation, Dr Williams Douglas.

Earlier in an address of welcome, founder of the university, Chief Afe Babalola, said the university would not deviate from its focus to bridge the existing gap in functional education in Nigeria by its pragmatic approach to teaching.

He appealed to the federal government to construct a airport in Ekiti, saying such project was long overdue, taking into cognizance the feats achieved by the university and its contributions to nation building.

“We started this university with about 250 students seven years ago, but today, we have 8,000 students here. We were able to achieve this because we deviated from the norm of just going to university to get certificates.

“We also exposed them to skills acquisition in baking, farming, Internet expertise, and other entrepreneurial skills that can make them cope under the present Nigeria’s economy.

“So the type of graduands you are seeing are thorough-bred graduates who can effectively stand on their own, “ Babalola said.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, reminded the graduands to detach themselves from the erroneous impression that acquisition of university certificates would automatically make their lives better.

“It will be wrong for you to think that people only go to university to acquire certificates: No, it goes beyond that. What university education means is the training of a complete being,” Fayose said.

“I owe this achievement to my parents. My father’s strict military background and my mother’s guide as a teacher helped me a lot.

“When I got to ABUAD, I also applied the aphorism of our founder, which is industry, determination, learning and character. The combination of all these helped me a lot,” the young graduand said.
