Despite not engaging in any international match in the month of
July, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved a step in the latest FIFA
ranking as they are now ranked 38th in the world as against the previous
39th position.
However,
the Eagles are stagnant in sixth position in the continent as they are
behind Cameroon, Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR and Egypt.
Thus, the top five teams in Africa are Egypt (25), Congo DR. (28), Senegal (31), Tunisia (34) and Cameroon (35).
A
further look at the FIFA ranking released yesterday shows that
Nigeria’s other opponent in the race for Russia 2018 World Cup are
ranked behind the Super Eagles.
While the Desert Foxes of Algeria are in the 48th position, the Chipolopolo of Zambia are in 9th place in the updated rankings.
Meanwhile,

Africa and Libya occupy 66th and 83rd position in the world just as the
other group opponent Seychelles are in the 194th position.
While
Egypt, Congo DR, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Burkina Faso,
Algeria, Ghana and Ivory Coast are the top ten teams in Africa, Brazil,
Germany, Argentina, Switzerland, Poland, Portugal, Colombia, Belgium and
France are the top ten teams in the world.
